Welcome to APUSH! I look forward to your success in this course. As we get started, we need to understand the book situation. Currently there are not enough textbooks for each student t o have their own copy. You have choices. You may use a school copy of The American Pageant during SMART lunch or before or after school on most days. You may purchase a copy of The American Pageant (twelfth or thirteenth edition); used copies can generally be found on amazon. You may try to find an on line copy of The American Pageant.
Regarding powerpoint notes. Yo u may not use your computer while we review our notes. You are strongly encouraged to copy the notes into your notebook by hand before class (the best method) or print the notes and annotate them in class. You will not have time to hand copy the notes during class. Occasionally daily notes will be collected for a grade.

The first test will be a combination of multiple choice, stimulus multiple choice and AP style short answer. The questions require application of the knowledge that we have shared in class time. There are very few recognition questions; you will need to think about what you know and make answer choices based on analysis and the application of knowledge. Reading is not studying; that was homework. At this point you should practice appropriately difficult questions on the textbook website.
There are now videos posted in the resources section on how to write an APUSH essay.

Review materials are posted under the resources tab. There are review exercises for every chapter; they are the ace practice tests. There is also an outline of the course material in the college board outline that is posted. A very useful way to study would be to fill in what you know about each of the topics listed in the outline. This is a difficult task BUT the work that you put into it will result in a better score. STUDYING IS HARD WORK. Success will not result from innate intelligence but from the effort that you put into actively learning the material.
